2020 was a challenging year, but for some it was even more so.

That’s why we decided to surprise 9 local families with some Christmas cheer! Rather than host our annual client Christmas party, we reached out to our local community and asked them to nominate someone they felt deserved a special Christmas surprise.

The response we had from Brisbane’s inner-western community was heart-warming. Nominations included families who had lost loved ones, or were facing serious illnesses, as well as local heroes.

Supporting Our Local Families

Sometimes the hardest thing to ask for, is help. So when we approached our community for nominations, it was others who sought help for those deserving of such.

It was incredibly touching to see the submissions which were sent through to support local families who had faced some terrible challenges recently.

On top of that, we were humbled by the outpouring of support from local residents offering to donate their time, funds or food items for our hampers.

Byrony, who was extremely moved by the response said “I love the community in which we live and the strength it provides for those needing support”.

9 Christmas hampers were delivered to local families

Indooroopilly’s Community Hero

We received many nominations for local heroes, who had generously given up their time to help others in our inner-western community.

For example, Frank was nominated for his tireless work as a volunteer chairman at the Hub Community Centre in Indooroopilly. Robyn who submitted the nomination, says brightly “Frank is a caring, considerate, kind and encouraging man who is always thinking of others”.

We are so lucky to have many wonderful local heroes just like Frank in our inner-western community.

Despite their ongoing hard work and dedication, they rarely seek any accolades, which is why we felt it was important to recognise them. Thank you to everyone who nominated a Community Hero.

Willow & Henry’s family kindly donated fresh food to the hampers

The Bellbowrie Wildlife Warrior

Another recipient of our special Christmas hampers was a very deserving wildlife carer in Bellbowrie. This beautiful lady has been taking care of our native wildlife and rescue animals for the past 38 years and often puts their needs before her own.

We really wanted to show her how much the community appreciates her tireless efforts by delivering some Christmas goodies!

Giving Back to Our Local Community

Having been a part of Brisbane’s inner-western suburbs for over 18 years, we truly believe in giving back to our local community.

The amazing organisations, residents, schools and community groups are such a big part of the reason why we all love living here. They give us a sense of belonging.

We will always look for meaningful ways to give back to a community that has given us so much.

We couldn’t have done this without the help of our community

Special Thanks

A massive thank you to the Fuge Family, Melissa, Yvette, Kate, Dana and Milton Fruit Bowl who contributed funds or items for our hampers.

A special thank you to Allison and her daughters for their time donating a whole day to purchase and source the items for the extra four hampers as well as Shane and Rod who assisted in delivering them!

It was important to me, that everyone who had been nominated be acknowledged or shown they are appreciated by their friends or loved ones.
